In the United States, politicians associate themselves with Christianity because a majority of voters are Christians. In the Arab world, a political leader must associate himself with Islam because it is a dominant religion in the region. Furthermore, the religious sects must be stated clearly before a political leader is elected.

The Tangling of Religion and Politics Religion and politics are quite mingled into society both in the developed countries as well as in developing countries. Religion and politics are two divisions of a single person. Religion speaks for a person’s moral values and beliefs and politics reaches out to one’s secular lifestyle.

Premise 2: Christians are called to deny the world and flee from worldly activities ("Love not the world"). Conclusion: Therefore, to remain untainted by the world, Christians must refrain from politics. In countering this argument, one must ask whether the premises are true.

Those who claim that religion and politics are inseparable to the extent that all the members of a religious community should belong to a single political party, imply subordination of religion to politics. To seek unity of a community on the basis of complete political agreement means loss of political freedom to its members.
